Discussion Questions
What is the biblical and historical context?
What does this reveal about God and People? (optional)
1 Cor. 14:26 starts by saying, “when you come together” assuming the saints are gathering. Why is it so important that the church gather and what is the purpose of gathering? What has shifted in our culture from a joyful commitment to gather, to a casual option?
The passage goes on to say, “each one”. Why is it crucial for “each one” to bring their contribution?
Many expressions of the Spirit working through the people are listed (“a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, an interpretation). Talk about those and discuss how your gatherings can reflect these elements and others both in what is prepared and spontaneously offered.
Do our gatherings reflect this Spirit led “each one” contributes pattern that we read in the passage? How can we grow?
